Salter Timeless BW06734 gives you 16, 18 and 20cm uncoated stainless steel saucepans and three vented glass lids. Light construction makes lifting easier, and the bases work on induction as well as gas and electric hobs. Thinner steel needs more attention than Stellar Eclipse: stir soup or tomato sauce because the edges can warm before the centre. Lids may rattle at a rolling boil; lower the heat once boiling. These pans are dishwasher safe, but Salter rules out oven use and metal utensils for this set. Use wood or silicone despite the steel interiors. The five-year guarantee includes the standard first year and requires registration within 30 days. A useful low-cost replacement trio if you already have a frying pan; frequent sauce-making justifies considering the more evenly heating Stellar set.
