A sensible low-cost choice for couples and smaller meals, the black 460012 has a light 3.5L aluminium insert rather than a heavy ceramic crock. It can brown ingredients on compatible gas or electric hobs before transferring to the base; induction is excluded. The low, medium and high dial is simple, but there is no timer, automatic finish or separate warm mode. Someone needs to manage serving time. Choose the larger Easy Time for an automatic finish, or Tower for inexpensive family capacity when hob searing is unnecessary.
