The Compact 501021 is a good fit when you want fresh soup during a short lunch break without making a large pot. Its smooth programme runs for 19 minutes; chunky soup takes 26. That is programme time, so allow extra time to chop vegetables, measure stock and clean afterwards. Its working range is 800ml to 1L. A full jug makes two generous 500ml bowls, while the minimum still means this is not designed to cook one small mugful. Smooth and chunky soup are joined by drinks and manual blending, with a countdown display that makes the remaining time easy to see. The non-stick surface helps with washing, but there is no automatic cleaning programme or sauté setting. Rinse promptly and clean the lid and blade carefully.
