KitchenAid 5KSMICM Ice Cream Maker Attachment
A freezer bowl for an existing compatible mixer
Editorial review Reviewed 9 October 2026 How we assess products
This attachment makes sense when you already own a compatible KitchenAid mixer and have reliable freezer space. It uses that motor with a dedicated drive adaptor and dasher to make smooth ice cream and sorbet in larger recipes than a small standalone churner. Buying a mixer solely for ice cream undermines its value. Check the exact model: Mini 5KSM3310X/3311X and 5KPM5, 5KPM50 and 5K5 are excluded. Freeze the bowl for at least 16 hours; its bulk can be awkward in a drawer, and another batch needs a ready-frozen bowl. The nominal 1.9L bowl takes no more than 1.4L of batter, poured with the mixer already on STIR. Let the bowl warm before hand washing and dry it fully. The dasher and drive assembly are top-rack dishwasher-safe. A standalone churner avoids compatibility checks; a compressor removes the empty-bowl freezing wait.
