Daewoo SDA1714 Soup Maker
1.6L, up to 6 portions
Editorial review Reviewed 3 October 2026 How we assess products
The SDA1714 makes sense when you want an inexpensive appliance for one main job: cooking chopped vegetables and stock into smooth or chunky soup. Its 1.6L jug offers useful batch size without asking you to pay for a powerful glass blender or a long menu of cooking settings. Smooth soup takes about 21 minutes and chunky soup about 28. There is a clear limit to that simplicity. You cannot soften onions in the jug first, and there is no keep-warm setting for a delayed lunch. The drinks and blending settings are useful extras, but tougher frozen-fruit blending is a weaker point. If smoothies with ice or frozen ingredients matter as much as soup, choose a blender designed for them. The outer body gets hot and the end-of-cycle beeps are noticeable. Follow the fill marks, chop ingredients evenly and wash the jug carefully without immersing the electrical base. It is an appealing budget choice for regular basic soup, rather than a cheap substitute for every function of the Ninja.
