The CASO IceChef Compact is our all-round choice for regular iced drinks. It makes neat hollow bullets in two sizes, with first ice possible from six minutes and repeat batches often nearer eight. A full basket can build in under 40 minutes, depending on conditions. A handle, window and water/basket alerts help with use. The matte casing wipes clean, but compressor noise and falling ice are noticeable in a quiet kitchen. Its 1L tank needs more refilling than the Cooks Professional G3471. The UK body measures W22 × H26 × D29cm and weighs 6.3kg; allow 10cm at the sides and rear and room to lift the lid. A five-minute water-circulation clean helps inside, while the basket, scoop and tank still need the prescribed washing, draining and drying. Use fresh drinking water and keep it indoors. Ice in the basket gradually melts, so transfer batches to the freezer for later. The EUHOMY IM06D costs less for basic bullet ice.
