Christmas shopping can mean books, toys, games, clothing, electronics or something useful for the home. Whatever you choose, allow time for delivery and to check the parcel before wrapping it. Amazon Prime can help with eligible deliveries, alongside its everyday entertainment and shopping benefits.

Use the delivery date, not just the Prime badge

Enter the delivery address before choosing an offer, then check the arrival date at checkout. Prime does not guarantee that every product will arrive the next day, and stock, seller and postcode can affect the options.

Choose something the recipient would enjoy before comparing delivery options. Check age suitability for toys, sizes for clothing, compatibility for electronics and the edition or format for books and games. If a kitchen gift is on your list, our buying guides can help you compare options such as soup makers and mini ovens.

Time a free trial around your shopping

Eligible customers can try Prime free for 30 days. A trial started well before December will not last until Christmas, so choose the timing that fits when you intend to order. If you have already used a trial, Amazon will show whether another offer is available to you.

Try Prime free for 30 days* when you are ready to use the benefits. Standard membership is £8.99 a month or £95 a year after the trial unless cancelled; check the renewal date and plan shown at sign-up.

Four useful checks before ordering a gift

  1. Confirm the exact version. Match the size, colour, edition, model and included items to the gift you chose. Similar-looking listings can contain different versions.
  2. Leave time to inspect it. Check for damage and missing parts before wrapping, while keeping the packaging you may need for a return.
  3. Check returns for that order. Retailer and seller terms can differ. Look at the return deadline rather than assuming all Christmas purchases get the same extended window.
  4. Consider the delivery address. Choose somewhere the parcel can be received, and check whether the packaging might reveal the gift.

Is paying for Prime worthwhile for Christmas shopping?

If you expect several eligible deliveries, monthly membership may be convenient for a busy shopping period. Compare the fee with the delivery charges you would otherwise pay, then consider whether you will use the other included benefits.

Our everyday Amazon Prime guide covers delivery, entertainment, household sharing and membership costs. You can keep using those benefits after the presents are sorted.

What if an item will not arrive in time?

Check other retailers’ offers and delivery promises before switching to a less suitable product. The right gift arriving a little later may be a better choice than a rushed substitute. Prime membership cannot make an unavailable item dispatch sooner or guarantee a last-minute Christmas delivery.
