If you buy from Amazon regularly, Prime can make delivery simpler: eligible items come with fast, free delivery, and the same membership includes entertainment and member-only offers. It is worth weighing those benefits against how often you shop and which extras you would actually use.

What does Amazon Prime include?

  • Delivery: fast delivery on millions of eligible items, with the available options shown for your address at checkout.
  • Prime Video: a selection of films and series included with membership. Rentals, purchases and add-on subscriptions cost extra.
  • Music: ad-free music and podcasts through the Prime music benefit; Music Unlimited is a separate subscription.
  • Reading and photos: a rotating Prime Reading selection and unlimited photo storage through Amazon Photos.
  • Shopping offers: access to Prime-exclusive deals and events.

How much does Prime cost?

Standard UK membership costs £8.99 a month or £95 a year. Eligible customers can start with a 30-day free trial. After the trial, membership renews at the price shown when you sign up unless you cancel.

Monthly membership is useful if you want to try the service beyond the free period without paying for a whole year. Annual membership works out cheaper than twelve monthly payments if you expect to use Prime throughout the year. Amazon also offers discounted student and young-adult membership; check your eligibility and the current offer when signing up.

Will Prime delivery apply to the product I want?

Check the particular listing and selected seller. Prime membership does not make every item on Amazon eligible, and the delivery promise depends on stock, your address and when you order. Some faster delivery options have order-value conditions.

Whether you are buying books, toys, clothes, electronics, home essentials or an appliance, check the exact version, size, colour and what is included before choosing an offer. A quick delivery is most useful when it gets you the right product: our buying guides can help you narrow the choice before checking the retailer’s delivery date.

Is Prime worth it for you?

Start with your recent orders. If you often buy eligible items and would use the included entertainment, the membership may save you delivery charges and time. If you shop occasionally or already have the entertainment subscriptions you want, you may get less value.

Member-only deals are another benefit, but compare the actual product price with other retailers. A membership discount does not automatically make a particular offer the cheapest option.

Can a household share the benefits?

Amazon Family lets eligible paid members share selected benefits with another adult at the same primary residential address. Each adult keeps their own account, and Amazon has account-linking and payment-sharing conditions. Free-trial, student and young-adult memberships have sharing limitations, so do not assume a trial covers both adults.
